National Folk Festival + Palestine (April 2017)
You might have caught Missy at her solo blackboard at the Bohemian, or in the Session Bar, but you probably missed Elly, who spent Easter learning traditional music in Palestine! We’re looking forward to being on the same continent and being able to perform together again soon.
Youth Traditions at Illawarra Folk Festival (Jan 2017)
With Elly overseas, Missy was only half her normal self. She still managed to do alright though – she took out “Best Performance of an Australian Folk Song” and “Best Original Song in a Folk Style” in the under-25s Youth Traditions Awards. Illawarra is a lovely little festival and we highly recommend the pre-festival Folk School, open to all ages, if you want to have a play yourself.
Elly goes Solo at the Bucket Lounge (Nov 2016)
Elly Barrett made her Sydney solo debut, opening for Mr Falcon’s Live and Original in Glebe, on 29th November. It’s a delightful venue, and we hope to be back there soon – ideally together next time!
Tunes in the Tablelands (Nov 2016)
The Grenadiers had the privilege and pleasure of supporting Martyn Wyndham-Read on November 8th at The Studio, Armidale. It was an unplugged concert in a beautifully converted (and resonant!) old shop, and we look forward to performing there again. Keep an eye out, Armidale!
Two Goats Cafe & Baa (also in Armidale) hosted The Grenadiers over dinner on November 10th. A lovely intimate venue, most of the diners left their tables to come and listen more closely, and we couldn’t have enjoyed it more! The food was delicious and affordable to boot.
